Awards

The ACTP Awards provides you with the opportunity to recognize your program and/or colleague at the ACTP conference in Charlotte NC in 2024. Nominations for the following awards will be accepted by the ACTP Awards Committee this coming Fall 2023.

Requirements: 

  1. Membership to ACTP is required prior to nominating or applying for an award or grant.
  2. All members are welcome to apply for awards and grants. 
  3. This award program will begin with the 2024 Conference.
  4. Submissions open May 1st 2023
  5. The deadline for award applications is November 1st 2023.
  6. Winners must accept the award at the ACTP annual conference in person only.  

Available Awards

PURPOSE

The tutor of the year award recognizes the outstanding contributions of a student tutor who fulfills the ACTP’s mission.  

 

It honors the work of undergraduate student tutors who contribute to the academic success of their peers and one who motivates and inspires others through the dedication of their work.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

What does the Peer Tutor of the Year receive?

  • A Certificate
  • Invitation to ACTP Annual Conference – registration fee waived
  • Recognition at the ACTP Annual Conference, including the opportunity for brief remarks at the Keynote lunch
  • Publicized biography on the ACTP website and in ACTP Annual Conference materials
  • Reimbursement of up to $250 of travel expenses to attend ACTP Annual Conference

APPLICATION PROCEDURES/REQUIREMENTS

Please submit the following application materials (formatted in MS Word) by using the online submission form.

 Applications should include:

1) Letter of nomination which summarizes the accomplishments and contributions of the nominee

2) One letter of endorsement by faculty and one letter from current supervisor

3) Subjects tutored

4) CV 

Evaluation Criteria:

1) Be a student and currently employed as a tutor.

2) Show initiative and creativity while tutoring within the learning center.

3) Serve as a role model for other tutors and students.

4) Go above and beyond the role of a student in capacities such as community service as well as other outstanding accomplishments related to tutoring

The Academic coach of the year award recognizes the outstanding contributions of a professional coach who fulfills the ACTP’s mission.  

 

It honors the work of professional academic coaches who work with undergraduate students.  The coach contributes to the academic success of their students 

and motivates them through their dedication of their work.

What does the ACTP Professional Academic Coach of the Year receive?

  • A Certificate
  • Invitation to ACTP Annual Conference – registration fee waived

PURPOSE

The purpose of the ACTP Learning Center of Excellence is to give national recognition to the work done by learning center personnel.

Beginning 2024, ACTP may recognize Learning Centers of Excellence for its innovation in peer academic coach or tutor training and it’s use of impactful learning student strategies that promote student success.

What does the Learning Center of Excellence receive?

 

Award recipients will receive:

  • A plaque
  • Recognition at the ACTP Annual Conference, including the opportunity for brief remarks at the Keynote lunch
  • Publicized biography on the ACTP website and in ACTP Annual Conference materials
  • Reimbursement of up to $250 of expenses to attend ACTP Annual Conference

PURPOSE

The Hunter Boylan Research Scholarship is awarded to recognize proposed or completed research related to how Academic Coaches Programs or Learning Centers contribute to student academic success as well as persistence.

 

Membership to ACTP is required prior to nominating or applying for an award or grant. 

 

RESEARCH PROJECT

Applicants must provide a minimum of a one-page summary on the presentation topic and how it relates to academic coaching or learning centers as well as student success or persistence. The summary should include a brief synopsis of the proposed or completed research, if it is completed, its outcome, how the research is useful or how the results can have an impact on colleges or universities.

Each year, one scholarship award winner will receive $650.00 for research and travel expenses, one waived conference registration, and a guaranteed presentation slot.

  • A one-page cover sheet with your name, address, institution, e-mail, phone number, and title of your proposal.
  • An abstract of the research topic (minimum of one page), excluding any identifying information as your proposal will undergo blind review.
  • A copy of your curriculum vitae or resume, which should include any previous research projects, conference presentations, and/or publications.
  • A letter of endorsement from your Dean, Vice President, Chair, current Supervisor, or senior administrator.
